Kelly Michaud has been selected as the 2001-2002 editor in chief!

Michaud has worked with The Maine Campus since September 1999, when she began as a news writer under the already legendary City Editor Matthew Paul (who is now at the Bangor Daily News). She began this school year as the assistant news editor, helping then-News Editor Stanley Dankoski. When Dankoski decided to pursue the implementation of the paper’s Web site, Michaud stepped up to the plate as News Editor, leading a staff of up to 20 writers.

Michaud will follow in the footsteps of current EIC Penny Morton, who will graduate in May. Morton succeeded Dankoski, who was EIC from 1999 to 2000; he will also graduate in May.

Michaud has also been on the Maine Campus editorial board since September 2000, and has written a column. She prefers news writing.

Michaud was an intern in the summer of 2000 with the online-broadcasting division of the U.S. Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs, Colo. Her work was posted online at www.usolympicteam.com prior to Sydney 2000.

Michaud is a Dean’s list student and has this semester been inducted to the Lambda Phi Eta Honor Society and the Golden Key International Honor Society.

She is now a junior journalism major and sociology minor.
