Dear President Hoff and elves,
Here are a few things that are on our wish list this holiday season:
Help initiate a policy that will give students more of a break when it comes to parking. Let us have a freebie ticket once a semester for a parking mistake.
Remember what your mom used to say about picking up one mess before you make another? Please finish all the current construction projects on this campus before you look at another blueprint. We’re tired of dodging dump trucks, listening to hammering and crawling through tunnels.
It’s wonderful that we have a mall-style eatery, but how about lowering those mall prices? Students on a budget should be able to afford a decent lunch.
Bring back the traditional December commencement ceremonies that will be eliminated after this Saturday. A photo and a handshake is small consolation for four years of hard work.
Energy fee? Curriculum fee? Memorial Union fee? The list goes on. Remember that the students who fork out money now are going to graduate to be grumpy alumni.
It’s great that we have the Stillwater Canal Pub on campus but how about letting the out-of-state students use it? If someone has an ID and a MaineCard, let him or her drink.
We realize that it is easier said than done to want changes such as these to happen. But these are reasonable requests. So keep them in the back of your mind; the students who will be here in the coming years will appreciate this place even more.
Happy Holidays,
The Maine Campus
