UMaine and BC women skate to 3-3 tie

Two third period goals from Karen Droog, the second with less than a minute remaining, propelled the University of Maine women’s ice hockey team to a 3-3 with Boston College Wednesday night at Alfond Arena.

UMaine is now 8-9-2 (2-6-2).

Meagan Aarts scored her 14th goal of the season just 30 seconds into the first period on a redirection of a Karen Droog shot from the point. But Boston College scored the next three goals in a span of 2:34 to take a two goal advantage.

Karen Droog cut into that lead when she found the back of the net on the power play at 16:27 of the third for her 15th goal. She tallied her 16th goal with only 57 seconds remaining after UMaine pulled goaltender Amanda Cronin for the extra attacker.

UMaine goaltender Amanda Cronin made 20 saves on 23 shots for her second tie of the year (3-3-2). BC goaltender Lisa Davis (3-9-2) made 44 stops.
