The most powerful and magical words in the English language are swears. Swears are an absolutely necessary part of our vocabulary that, like all other parts of English grammar, must be properly used: a skill that is lost on most of the population. Most people toss around swears like a man feeding pigeons with bread crumbs.

One of the members of the University of Maine field hockey team is making a national mark this season and is one of the key contributors to the team’s success.

Senior back Morgan Brady has 23 assists in her college career. She also is also first in the nation with 12 assists this season, and tied UMaine’s record for assists in a game with three on Oct.

The University of Maine is facing the possibility of having to cut three varsity sports to make up for a budget shortfall.

The Athletic Budget Advisory Committee, formed in April 2001 to generate ways to trim at least $487,000 over the next two years in the Athletics Department at UMaine, recently released a report outlining measures that the department may take.

Parking problems persist

In the real world, problems must be solved. It seems at UMaine, however, that parking problems are only meant to be discussed. While new lots have been built at a great aesthetic loss to the campus, enrollment has increased enough to offset any parking relief.

For those connected with the University of Maine, Shawn Walsh will always be known as “coach.” For those who knew him best, he will be remembered as husband, father and friend.

With more than 1,000 family, friends, players and colleagues in attendance, Maine hockey coach Shawn Walsh was laid to rest on Saturday in Bangor.

Success was not simply a matter of luck for University of Maine men’s ice hockey head coach Shawn Walsh. It was his meticulousness, perseverance, intelligence and of course, his motivation to succeed, that made Walsh successful, said the man who was responsible for hiring Walsh.
