It’s the end of the semester, and summer is finally upon us. Of course, with the coming of summertime, we also see the arrival of summer blockbusters (X-Men, The Matrix and Charlie’s Angel’s sequels) and best of all, summer music. Seeing as this is my last column before we break for the summer (and well, I graduate!), I thought it would be a cool idea to share my favorite summertime music selections.

Some know him as the comedian with a deceased reggae legend’s name, and others know him as the crazy detective from the cult hit “Boondock Saints.” But on Saturday night, Bangor’s own Bob Marley was known only as Maine’s king of comedy as he performed at the Maine Center for the Arts in front of a sold-out crowd.

I got an 82 on a test last week. Not too bad. I was relatively pleased with the grade, but while I surveyed the questions and answers to see where I erred, I began to observe among my classmates what has become an all-too-familiar trend: College students put way too much frickin’ emphasis on their grades.

When I think about the past few movies and music videos I’ve seen, and what I’ve recently been hearing on the radio, I feel the urge to strike a Tim Robbins “Shawshank Redemption” pose and scream at the sky: “Why can’t I be back in the ’80s?”

Even though I was no older than eight before the onset of the ’90s, I can still tell you that the “Decade of Decadence” had all the coolest movies, music and cartoons.

Mark Anderson, the University of Maine’s interim chief financial officer, announced his decision to uphold the suspension of former Black Bear football players Stefan Gomes and Paris Minor Monday.

His decision upheld the original finding of the Student Conduct Code Committee that found the two in violation of the conduct code and suspended them from the University Sept.
