Basic design flaws appear to be behind many of the problems still plaguing students living in the recently completed New Residence Complex on the hilltop.

The sudden closure of the Sea Dog Brewing Co. in Bangor last Tuesday surprised members of the community and left 60 people jobless.

A ruling by U.S. Bankruptcy Court decided not to lower the amount of money the Sea Dog owed to its primary creditor, the WWN group.

Seven Marines left the University of Maine this semester when the Alpha Company of the 1st Battalion Marines, based in Topsham, was deployed. They were notified Jan. 12 that they had been activated.

On Tuesday President George W. Bush made a special appearance in Bangor to rally support for the republican hopefuls in the upcoming November election.

The many people who headed to Bangor International Airport to show their support for the president and Maine republican hopefuls were greeted by those that gathered to rally.

Strong, gusty winds sweeping through Kessock Field in Orono greeted softball spectators this weekend when the Black Bears hosted Stony Brook.

UMaine fans, who braved the surprisingly cool doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, were treated to some fantastic performances by their Black Bears.

Twelve University of Maine women’s basketball players combined to put 72 points on the board and hold off the University of Albany, 72-45, in their second-to-last home game Wednesday night.

The victory was a total team effort, as head coach Sharon Versyp subbed frequently and used 11 players in the first half alone.

Students began lining up three hours early outside of Alfond Arena to see the University of Maine take on rival University of New Hampshire Friday night. Arena staff opened the doors 15 minutes early when the line of students reached all the way to College Avenue.

We all remember our favorite character Mr. Cooper from the early 90′s hit television series Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper. On Thursday, April 3, University of Maine students got to hang with Mr. Cooper himself, as Mark Curry performed live at the Maine Center for the Arts.

I turned 21 this past January. With this birthday came the age-old inauguration into buying and consuming alcohol. I sauntered down to Shop ‘N Save, picked up a 12-pack of my choice beer and headed for the counter.

I’ll admit that I was a bit nervous since this was my first time buying alcohol.
