I was visiting a friend in Somerset earlier this week. We were watching an episode of The Sopranos when his roommate checked their built-in voice mail. I could hear the dial tone stutter from my nearby post. This triggered an annoyed, “Oh, it’s probably another hall program.
Spring has almost sprung, even here in Maine. It’s nearly time to put away the parkas, peacoats and fleeces until next fall. It is about that time to don all the spring apparel you’ve been dying to wear throughout the bitter winter. Due to a second place tie between pianist Kat Roy and the band Stoplight Rehearsal, both will advance with the first-place finisher, Calvin Goodale.
While the majority of students at the University of Maine took part in the annual goings-on of spring break, a group of 26 enrollees began a quest that will hopefully bring them to glory in late May as most students enjoyed the perks of a week in Cancun, Mexico or a relaxing trip to their hometown, the University of Maine men’s baseball team kicked off its season in the tropics of Florida.
The University of Maine softball team returned from its trip to Florida last week where the Black Bears spent two weeks competing with teams from all over the country.

The University of Maine men’s ice hockey team is just four wins away from what many would have considered an impossibility when the season began in October: a national championship.
