I am inspired by something! I don’t know what it is exactly, but I will call it the “Holy Spirit” for lack of a better name. This something is motivating me to express myself to the masses. As the Bible was written, I hear this voice inside me saying, “Write these words so people can read them.” This, of course, is part of my subconscious which is not unique among human beings, but is among all living organisms.
The human mind is capable of advanced cognitive processes such as problem solving, problem creating, awareness of oneself, numerical conceptualization, philosophical thinking and a vivid imagination, just to name a few.
Of course, if I were to rave about some higher being speaking to me and telling me what to say and how to behave, people would label me as psychotic.
Jesus Christ was considered crazy in the Bible. He spoke of a God who was not as the Jews had known and dared to call himself the Messiah. I just want to add that in reality, he was probably just speaking against a corrupt nation. They considered him so crazy that they crucified him, an act considered acceptable at that point in time, along with throwing rocks at people, beating your wife, polygamy and owning slaves.
So with all of these advanced processes that people obviously possess, does it occur to anyone that there is something seriously wrong? For example, the only documented proof of Jesus’ existence is the Bible, a book written over a period of 1,500 years by more than 40 authors. This doesn’t seem odd? Of course not, because this isn’t what you learn about in church.
There are over 1,000 denominations of Christianity, a religion that is not unique at all. Read up on Krishna and more importantly, Horus. Note that these religions were created hundreds and even thousands of years before Christianity.
I was recently confronted by a man who told me I was going to hell and spit out verses from the Bible as “proof.” I argued against the Bible, using Joshua’s act of massacring innocent people, among other events in the Bible, as a wrongful deed, but he told me it was God’s will. So by his logic, it’s okay to murder people if God says so. This seems ridiculous, but there are really people out there who think like this.
Andrea Yates, a woman from Houston, Texas, murdered her five children by drowning them one-by-one in a bathtub because she felt they weren’t righteous. So was she wrongly persecuted because she claimed that she was instructed by God to do this? Well, she pled insanity and got it, thank God.
It is healthy to have beliefs. They make life interesting, but more importantly, it’s healthy to have rational beliefs that do not defy nature. For example, I believe that if any religion can be represented publicly in newspapers, magazines, posters, then so should the beliefs against religion.
Perhaps there is a higher being, but whether they care enough, or are even aware of our existence, is improbable. We may in fact be part of something much greater, like electrons spinning around a nucleus. There is no proof against that and it’s a completely legitimate belief, but not something to boast as if it is fact.
Theory is the greatest scientific explanation of something that cannot be known. Any religion, whether it be Christianity, Muslim or Hinduism, does not fall under what is known nor what is theorized. They are simply absurd allusions created by a mind that is afraid of what is unknown.
Humanity is not special. We are animals just like dogs and cats that have mentally evolved to accommodate great processes to allow us to perceive things differently. Now, if only we could use these processes toward things that are relevant to life, we might actually be able to sustain it adequately.
