The University of Maine cross country team swept rival University of New Hampshire on Friday during the Black Bears’ dual meet with the Wild Cats.
Black Bear junior Corey Conner won her second consecutive race, finishing the 5,000-meter with a time of 17:31. The women’s team also featured the two runner-up positions, as senior Allison Conner and junior Jennifer Lucy finished second and third respectively.
Junior David Currier finished first for the men’s team, which also featured both runner-ups. Currier’s time of 25:25 in the 8,000-meter was one second faster than second place finisher, freshman Jason Kaake. Junior Spencer McElwain finished in third with a time of 25:39.
The men’s team won with a cumulative score of 17-43, while the women finished with a score of 18-42.
The cross country team’s next meet is home on Saturday Oct. 2 when they host the College of Holy Cross.
