Masters places first; men fourth

On the legs of junior Riley Masters, the University of Maine men’s cross country team finished fourth, aided by Masters’ first overall finish at the America East Conference cross country championship.

Masters outpaced the nearest competitor by 18 seconds, finishing with a time of 24:04:47 in the 8,000-meter. Juniors David Currier and Spencer McElwain finished 20th and 25th respectively, with times of 25:18:52 and 25:25:74.

The women’s cross country team finished third overall, thanks in part to junior Corey Conner’s third overall finish.

Conner’s third place time clocked in at 17:07:22 in the 5,000-meter, while senior Jordan Daniel placed ninth with a time of 17:53:08. Coming in 20th was sophomore Whitney Chamberlain with a time of 18:24:87. Senior Allison Conner finished 26th, 10 seconds behind Chamberlain at 18:34:58.
