President Barack Obama will hold a campaign rally on the Southern Maine Community College campus Friday afternoon.

The president is expected to speak after 4:15 p.m., when the event will be closed to late-arriving members of the media, according to a campaign email. Obama will hold a fundraising dinner for his 2012 re-election campaign at the Portland Museum of Art later tonight.

According to The Portland Press Herald, students paid $44 for tickets while non-students paid $100 to attend. Beyond that, it would cost $10,000 to have a photo taken with Obama. Doors will open at 3 p.m. and 1,700 people are expected to attend.

The Maine Campus will hold a live chat with updates flowing in via Twitter. State Editor Chris Chase and Editor in Chief Michael Shepherd will be at the event.
