The University of Maine baseball team may have come up short in their quest to return to the national playoffs, but two of their pitcher’s hard work was rewarded during the Major League Baseball Entry Draft on Tuesday and Wednesday. Gibbs went 3-4 with an 8.40 ERA for UMaine this past season, leading the team in strikeouts with 56. Gibbs’ standout game this season was a 10-0 victory over the State University of New York-Albany during the regular season.
Perakslis went 5-5 for the Black Bears in 2012 with an ERA of 3.14, 14 starts, 87 and one-third innings pitched and 19 walks, all team bests. Perakslis won a start against the SUNY-Albany during the 2012 America East playoffs.
