I can agree with almost everything stated in the article.
One thing that becomes so frustrating with today's music is its irrelevance to society. Now, hip-hop stands for something that it was never suppose to represent; the glam of the rich and famous, the importance of instrumental backing, the demeaning of women, and so much more. The list goes on on how hip-hop music now has changed from the lyrical content we heard during the "golden age" of hip-hop music. "The Golden Age" is only an understatement of how much that era of music really shined. Its what African-Americans should always use as a representative to our hip-hop culture. What angers is me is that hip-hop music is how others recieve the African-American race. It tells our story. But our story, through some artists, show nothing but greed, deceit, and sometimes nothing positive. Is this what we really want from our hip-hop generation? Not me! I want my story to be told positively!
