University of Maine sophomore and men’s hockey forward John Parker has been dismissed from the team due to a violation of team rules, according to head coach Tim Whitehead.
“He was dismissed in November,” Whitehead said. “He’s going to finish up this semester and I believe he is going to leave school Christmas break.
“We’ve been through this before on occasion. It’s always unfortunate when a player has to leave the team but it’s the right thing to do in the best interest of the team. We wish him the best and look forward to the second semester.”
Whitehead would not comment on whether he had violated team rules before or if this was the first offense.
Parker had been out due to a leg injury suffered before the start of the season and was doubtful to return by the end of the season.
In the 2011-12 season, Parker appeared in 33 games for the Black Bears, scoring three goals along with four assists.
