Please note: The Maine Campus is updating its privacy policy not because of a change in the way it collects or protects your personal information but because The Campus is moving off its current online publisher. If anything, The Maine Campus is more vigilant now about the security of your personal information.

Information we gather

The Maine Campus, owner and operator of mainecampus.com, will not collect any personal information not voluntarily supplied by the user while subscribing, registering, taking a survey, commenting or any other action in which the user was a willing and obvious participant.

The Maine Campus does gather information from its users that cannot be used to personally identify visitors. Such information includes, but is not limited to, the user’s general geographic location, browser and operating system information, Internet Service Provider, and other general information used to track trends in readership, personalize your experience, improve our Web site and target advertising.

How we protect your information

The Maine Campus will never sell, rent, swap or in any way distribute your personally identifiable information to any third-party organization. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising or other uses.

We may disclose personal information if we are required to do so by law or we in good faith believe that such action is necessary to comply with the law or with legal process, protect against misuse or unauthorized use of our Web site, or protect the personal safety, rights or property of ourselves, our users or the public.

Electronic edition

The Maine Campus provides an e-mail edition of our newspaper for users who choose to receive it. If you decide to opt-in, you will receive e-mails from us at the frequency you designate. We may, from time to time, send you additional e-mails promoting new features or services on our site or in our paper edition. If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we include detailed unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email.

Use of cookies

The Maine Campus uses cookies to understand and save your preferences for future visits, keep track of advertisements and compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

At our discretion, we may include or offer third party products or services on our Web site. These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.

Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

This site is in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act), and we do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our Web site, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.

If we decide to change our privacy policy we will post those changes on this page at least 15 days before they take effect and we will update the Privacy Policy modification date at the top of this page.
