The University of Maine has repeatedly been ranked between No. 1 and No. 3 by the Princeton Review for having the most things to do on campus nationwide.

“Of all the colleges, we’re always in the top,” said Gustavo Burkett, director of Campus Activities and Events at the university.

Student Government unanimously confirms Andrew Gerke, Justin LaBonte for vice-presidential positions

The General Student Senate unanimously confirmed Sen. Justin Labonte and former Sen. Andrew Gerke into office at Tuesday’s meeting. Labonte was selected for vice president of financial affairs and Gerke will fill the vice president of Student Entertainment position.

Sig Ep's sixth annual Rock against Rape gets the word out

In a relatively last-minute decision, the Sigma Phi Epsilon Rock Against Rape concert was moved from their planned location – the Lord Hall parking lot – to the field house of the Memorial Gym.

Rock Against Rape returns for year five with an impressive lineup

Quickly becoming an annual tradition at the University of Maine, the increasingly popular outdoor rock concert Rock Against Rape will return for its fifth year next Friday, thanks to the efforts of the sponsoring fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon.

“This year is probably the biggest group we’ve ever booked,” said event director Andrew Gerke, in reference to this year’s headliner, Florida-native alterna-rock band Anberlin.

As in the past, this year’s Bumstock will be free for students. However, public admission will be $20, a $10 raise from last year’s cost. The Field House was a surreal experience this Friday night: a giant, spider-like bungee-jumping station throwing people up to the ceiling, a huge mechanical bull throwing them to the ground, and two stages front and center throwing out sound. The Winter Carnival and Battle of the Bands collided, bringing together heavy metal, classic rock, punk and laser tag.
