Campus Currents: Nicholas Payson
Nicholas Payson is a forward on the men's hockey team at UMaine. He was a redshirt freshman for the 2008-2009 season, and played in 17 games for the Black Bears. A native of Veazie, he played his first three seasons at Bangor High School where he starred for current UMaine Assistant Coach Dan Kerluke. He was also a standout football player at Bangor. He has been indefinitely suspended from the team twice: Once in January, 2008 when he was charged with aggravated assault and again in July, 2009 when he was charged with operating under the influence. The state decided not to pursue the assault complaint.

Nicholas Payson, a member of the University of Maine men’s hockey team, has been suspended indefinitely following a meeting Tuesday morning with Athletic Director Blake James and Head Coach Tim Whitehead.
Payson was arrested Monday in connection with an alleged assault the morning before, according to an article published in the Bangor Daily News on Wednesday.
