Supporters of Maine’s same-sex marriage law have raised more than double the amount of money than their opponents campaign finance reports released Tuesday showed.
Opponents to Question 1, which would reject a law allowing same-sex couples to marry in Maine, are focusing heavily on college students, who they said could be key to upholding the legislation.
The Issue: Opponents of same-sex marriage declined to engage in a debate at the University of Maine on the same-sex marriage issue.
What We Think: The lack of willingness to defend a position in a debate is a good indication that the position cannot be defended.
