Dua Lipa is a pop singer known for her iconic sense of style and keen eye for all things unique. Her new album, “Club Future Nostalgia,” comprises 17 remixed club songs that encompasses this passion and energy. Recently released on Sept. 11, 2020, Lipa’s album features a wide array of dance music that showcases both her talent as well as the talent of other pop artists and DJ’s who worked with her.
The album is upbeat and combines retro, dance and pop music, with each song remixed by a DJ or artist. These songs feature many tributes to Lipa’s past life and her journey in the music industry. This March, Lipa released 11 of the original songs on her album “Future Nostalgia.” “Club Future Nostalgia” remixes these 11 songs while adding 6 more. Lipa worked closely with DJ Blessed Madonna to recreate each song in the remix and to put a dance twist on the pop album that she originally released. The album also features guest appearances from artists including Gwen Stefani, Madonna, and Missy Elliott.
The first song on the album, “Levitating,” sets the stage for a playlist that is perfect for a party or club scene. Featuring both Madonna and Missy Elliott, the song’s heavy dance beat and colorful sound pair well with the lyrics and vocals of all three pop stars. Lipa’s popular, pre-released single, “Don’t Start Now,” was also remixed and included in “Club Future Nostalgia” with a much slower and harder-hitting sound.
Each song ranges from three to five minutes long, and follows Lipa through a journey of self-discovery, love, boys and finding herself as a woman. Smooth, fast-paced transitions are used to seamlessly blur one song into the next, creating the ultimate party vibe. Lipa mixes retro dance music with her contemporary storytelling pop style in this album, which makes for very unique songs that everyone can love.
Lipa’s remix album pays tribute to the trends of the 80s as she takes signature styles and sounds from the era and puts a contemporary twist on them. Inspired by the mixtapes and street dance music of 80s hip-hop, this remix collection allows pop fans to take a breath and relive the sounds of the past.
One of the songs on “Club Future Nostalgia” is Lipa’s “Physical,” featuring Gwen Stefani and Mark Ronson. This track includes lyrics about a woman’s desire to live life in the moment and always keep things interesting: “Adrenaline keeps on rushing in / Love the simulation we’re dreaming in.” She also discusses moments of love and lust, and the need for soaking in a beautiful moment: “I don’t wanna live another life / ‘Cause this one’s pretty nice / Living it up / Who needs to go to sleep, / when I got you next to me?”
Lipa is 25 years old and from London, England, where she started her career in pop music and singing. She first got started in the music industry when she signed a contract with Tap Management in 2013, and this is Lipa’s third studio album following “Dua Lipa” in 2017 and “Future Nostalgia” in 2020. The 17 remixed songs in “Club Future Nostalgia” are accompanied by a colorful retro album cover and a confident Dua Lipa posing in all white. The album has a total run time of 1 hour and 18 minutes.
