What is the UMS Exchange?

The UMS Exchange features articles originally published by student newspapers and publications across the University of Maine System. These works are republished with permission to foster collaboration and expand access to student journalism across the state.

Current participating student outlets include:

The Free Press, University of Southern Maine: The Free Press is the official student newspaper of the University of Southern Maine. Produced by USM students for the USM community, The Free Press covers the people, issues, ideas and events shaping life across the university’s campuses and beyond. The Free Press has been a part of USM campus life for decades, with a history dating back to the early 1970s.

The Farmington Flyer, University of Maine at Farmington: The Farmington Flyer is the official student newspaper of the University of Maine at Farmington. Produced by UMF students, the Farmington Flyer’s mission is to provide the Farmington community with reliable and high-quality local news.
