This Week in GSS

The Sept. 3 General Student Senate meeting began with the approval of the April 30 meeting, which was the final meeting of the senate for the 2018-19 school year, as well as the inauguration of senate members.

New Senators, Office Appointments, Resignations

No new senators were appointed, no resignations occurred at this meeting.

Club Maintenance

No club maintenance was necessary. 

Any and all requests made by clubs will be reviewed by the cabinet at the next meeting.

Reports

The majority of committees had no reports, as the senate was not active over the summer session.

Main Motion

Sen. Ransley spoke to introduce the main motion of the night, allocating $1,950 to the mobile rock climbing event hosted by The University of Maine Student Government (UMSG) Inc.

Vice President and Student Entertainment Representative Armando stepped to the podium to explain the motion. The motion is an event on the mall on Sept. 16, in partnership with Campus Activities & Student Engagement (CASE), with the funding going towards a four-hour period of rock climbing, free to all students. 

There was no discussion or debate. The motion was passed with a majority vote. 

The Senate will be holding officer elections at their next meeting on Sept.10
