Letter to Editor: Senator Angus King’s Continuing Impact on My Education

As a student here in Maine, Senator King’s impact on my education began when I attended Brunswick Junior High School and I received a laptop — an initiative Senator King began when he was Governor.

His work to help students in Maine continued when he became one of our Senators. He worked hard to pass the Bipartisan Student Loan Certainty Act — legislation that greatly reduces interest rates on student loans.

This act directly impacts my current education at the University of Maine. I come from a middle-class family, which means I don’t qualify for significant financial aid, yet my college education is not something I can afford to pay for without loans. I am grateful for Senator King’s efforts to decrease student loans for Maine students like me. I am voting for Senator King on November 6th because I know that he will faithfully represent my interests as a Maine student.
