Every year, ambitious Maine high schoolers are accepted to top rated colleges and universities across the nation. Eager 18-year-olds ready to earn a college degree are all faced with the same question: how am I going to pay for this? It is currently estimated that student loan debt in the US is $1.5 trillion and is larger than ever before. Angus King understands the painfully real concern, and the serious conversations had at the dinner table of whether to send a teenager to achieve a 4-year higher education.
Senator King knew the gravitas of sending our young Mainers to college and decided to break the gridlock of Washington and put his constituents first. Senator King brought both sides together in the Senate to keep student interest rates in check, thus saving Mainers over $250 million. That is why I will be voting for him this November 6th.
