The eighth week of the NFL season has officially passed, and as the football season inches towards its midway point, fantasy football ramps up. Each week the games become more important towards securing a playoff spot; of course, there are stars and duds to help save (or ruin) fantasy owner’s seasons. Here are some of the over and underachievers of week eight of the NFL season.
Overachievers:
Mason Taylor: The Jets tight end had one of the best games of his young career, racking in five receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter. This performance earned Taylor 14.6 fantasy points and helped to vault the Jets towards their first win of the season.
Oronde Gadsden: The Syracuse product has quickly become one of Justin Herbert’s favorite targets, catching five passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers Thursday Night Football victory over the Vikings. This earned Gadsden 18.7 fantasy points, the most of any tight end this week. Gadsden has moved up the depth chart after poor play derailed Will Dissly’s spot with the team.
Isaiah Davis: Another Jets player who had a breakout week was running back Isiah Davis. The second string back had 65 rushing yards along with five catches for 44 yards and a two-point conversion. This gave Davis 17.9 fantasy points, his career high.
Chris Boswell: The Steelers kicker had plenty of action this week. Boswell went 4/4 on field goals this week, three of which were from 50 yards or further. After tagging an extra point onto his final score, Boswell scored 20 fantasy points, putting up one of the best scores from a kicker that we have seen this season.
Troy Franklin: The Broncos wide receiver has been on a tear lately, scoring 12.9 fantasy points last week against the Giants and more than doubling that number against the Cowboys this week. His six catches went for 89 yards and two touchdowns, making him the highest scoring WR in fantasy football this week at 26.9 fantasy points.
Underachievers:
Bijan Robinson: The Falcons running back has had a fantastic season so far, however, this week he did not perform to his standard. Robinson had 25 rushing yards and caught three passes for 23 yards. Along with this, he lost a fumble to a struggling Dolphins defense. This gave Robinson 5.8 fantasy points, falling well below his projected score of 22.6.
Christian McCaffrey: CMC ran the ball eight times and only gained 25 yards. His three catches went for a combined 43 yards in a rough game for the 49ers running back. This scored CMC 9.8 points, which is underwhelming vs a weak Houston defense.
Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers defense allowed Jordan Love to throw for 360 yards and three touchdowns. The Packers ultimately scored 35 points in their 35-25 win over the Steelers. Due to Green Bay having such a strong offensive game, the Steelers defense ended with -3 fantasy points. This earns Pittsburgh the underachiever of the week.
