We have officially completed 10 weeks of the NFL season. We have seen stars emerge, teams breakout and a few heartbreaking losses so far this year. However, more importantly than all of that, is that we are entering the most important weeks for the fantasy football season. This is where owners really dig deep and try to find some of the best waiver-wire players who could help them win a few key games. Without any more hullabaloo, let’s get into this week’s over and underachievers.
Overachievers:
Tyler Allgeier: The Falcons running back had an extremely efficient game against the Colts in Germany this week; he ran the ball 11 times for 57 yards and two touchdowns. His dominant ground-game performance earned him 17.7 Fantasy Points this week, heavily outscoring the Falcons other running back Bijan Robinson’s 10.8. This is Allgeier’s first multi-touchdown game since week one of the 2023 NFL season.
Jonathan Taylor: It feels silly to include the Colts running back on this list, as he has easily been the best player in the NFL this year and appears to be a lock for the Offensive Player of The Year award. However, this week he beat even our high expectations, going for 244 yards rushing with three touchdowns and tacking on another three receptions for 42 receiving yards. This gave Taylor 49.6 Fantasy Points this week; the most we have seen out of any player this season.
Tez Johnson: Coming into this week, the Buccaneers wide receiver had two career touchdowns. This week alone, Johnson doubled that margin, finishing the game with four catches for 42 yards and two touchdowns. This earned him 20.2 Fantasy Points, more than doubling his projected 10.8.
De’von Achane: Very few people predicted that the Miami Dolphins would have a chance at winning against the Buffalo Bills. However, nobody could have expected Achane to have the game he did. The Dolphins third-year running back ran for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Along with this, he caught all six of his targets for another 51 yards. This earned Achane 40.5 Fantasy points this week, the second most amongst all players this week.
Davis Mills: The Texans backup quarterback stepped in after C.J Stroud went out of last week’s game with a concussion. Mills has started games before and was never anything more than mediocre, so the expectations for him were rather low. Because of this, Mills had a chip on his shoulder. The Texans QB threw for 292 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also added 20 rushing yards and another score on the ground. For a player who was never expected to start a game, Mills popped off, making him the overachiever of the week.
Underachievers:
San Francisco 49ers Defense: The 49ers allowed the Los Angeles Rams to score 42 points and only managed to sack Matthew Stafford one time. This means that the 49ers defense scored negative two fantasy points; a fantasy owner would have been better off not starting a Defense instead of having the 49ers in a starting role. The 49ers look to improve next week against a weak Arizona Cardinals offense.
Justin Jefferson: Coming into this season, it was widely agreed that Jefferson was the best wide receiver in football. This week, however, did not help that case. Jefferson was held to only four receptions for 37 yards, giving him 7.7 Fantasy Points, this is Jefferson’s lowest fantasy point total of the season.
Brock Bowers: In week nine, we saw Brock Bowers put up one of the best games by a tight end in recent history, as he had 12 catches for 127 yards and three touchdowns. This week, however, was quite the opposite; the Raider was only targeted three times, bringing in one catch for 31 yards and one carry for negative four yards. This earned Bowers only 3.7 Fantasy Points, making him the underachiever of the week.
