The University of Maine Police Department (UMPD) has received two reports of an unidentified man approaching females and attempting to talk to them. A similar incident was reported at Hannaford in Old Town.

He is described as white, middle-aged, 5’8’’, muscular build. Incidents have been reported Sept. 14-19.

“Look at your surroundings. If you see someone following you, get somewhere safe us and call us [UMPD].” UMPD Chief Roland LaCroix said.

“Be aware of your surroundings. When you’re walking in a parking lot, before you commit yourself to a vehicle, look at your surroundings. If you see anyone hanging out or anything, get to a phone, get somewhere safe and call us and let us go check the person out.” Chief LaCroix said.

All of the UMPD officers are aware of the situation at hand and will remain vigilant while on patrol around campus. If anyone has any information, please call UMPD at 581-4040 or 911 if it’s an emergency.
