Police Beat

Sept. 2

At 6:40 p.m. Elena Maturo of Orono, 19, was found to be in possession of a fake ID and was issued a civil summons.

At 8:21 p.m. Antonio Centrella of Orono was found to be in possession of a fake ID and was issued a civil summons. 

Sept. 3

At 11:55 p.m. University of Maine Police Department (UMPD) officers were dispatched to Cumberland Hall because students were not wearing masks and gathered in the basement. All involved students were referred to conduct.

Officers were in York Hall late into the evening because an RA on duty called them after breaking up a large party on the fourth floor. There was a 17-year-old minor present and all parties were referred to conduct for their actions.

At 10:32 p.m. police were called to Stewart Commons because a large group of students was partying. The group dispersed when UMPD arrived.

At 10:08 p.m. Tanner Laflamme, 19, of Orono was issued a summons for using a fake ID.

At 9:09 p.m. Raine Bagudu, 19, of Orono was charged with using a fake ID.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. Parker Swanson, 18, of Orono was charged with using a fake ID.

At 8:01 p.m. Nathaniel Nagem,19, of Orono, was charged with using a fake ID.

At 10:19 p.m. Jack Rich,18, of Massachusetts was found to be using a fake ID and issued a civil summons.

At 11:40 p.m. Jake Newton, 18, was charged with operating in violation of a conditional license zero tolerance, which is a class E offense. This means he was driving drunk as a minor. Class E crimes are punishable by up to six months in prison and a $1,000 fine.

At 12:57 a.m. a student was found in the men’s room on the first floor of Gannett Hall. He appeared very intoxicated. The student was evaluated by paramedics but was not taken to the hospital for alcohol consumption. He was sent to conduct for possession of alcohol by a minor and for not wearing a mask. 

Sept. 5

Five minutes after midnight a first-year student was found in the lobby of York Hall intoxicated. They were transported to Northern Light Hospital for alcohol poisoning.

Shortly after midnight, the fire alarm went off at Phi Kappa Pi. The residents bumped into sprinklers and activated the system causing damage to the house. Kendra Scheely arranged for brothers to stay at the Black Bear Inn while the damage was repaired.

At 11:11 p.m. a first-year student was found intoxicated in Cumberland Hall and transported to St. Joseph Hospital for alcohol related sickness. She was referred to conduct for the offense.

At 5:33 p.m. Gabrielle Langone of Massachusetts was found to be in possession of a fake ID and issued a civil summons. 

Sept. 6

At 6:07 p.m. Tyler Hebert, 24, of Orono, was charged with operating without a license class E in that he did not have the proper license endorsement to operate a motorcycle. 

 

Sept. 6

UMPD responded to a noise complaint at 6:12 p.m. There was loud music at the Lambda Chi House, and when officers arrived the brothers were playing volleyball. When asked to turn the music down the residents complied and officers left. 

 

Sept. 6

At 11:28 p.m. UMPD responded to reports of a large gathering on Stewart Commons. Students were drinking, smoking and listening to loud music. The crowd left on their own accord.

 

Sept. 6

At 1:30 a.m. UMPD again found a group of students drinking, smoking and listening to music on Stewart Commons. Nobody was charged or brought to conduct. 

 

Sept. 6

At 1:44 a.m. a security guard reported students taking traffic cones from the COVID-19 testing area near the Hilltop dining hall. Gabriell Peliter was referred to conduct for stealing $66 worth of traffic cones. 

 

Sept. 6

On the evening of Sept. 6, Phi Gamma Delta was reported for making too much noise. It was reported that a large group gathered, chopping wood and playing loud music. No illegal activity was occurring and the group turned their music down. 

 

Sept. 7

At 8:10 p.m. Jameson Alling, 18, of Falmouth was found to be in possession of a fake ID and issued a civil summons.

 

Sept. 7

At 9:05 p.m. Abigail Lynch 18, of Connecticut, was issued a summons for using a fake ID.

 

Sept. 7

At 4:07 a.m. Edward Emerson, 24, of Old Town, was charged with criminal mischief, a class D offense, and violation of conditional release which is a class E offense. Class D crimes are punishable by up to a year in prison and a $2,000 fine. Class E crimes are punishable by up to six months in prison and a $1,000 fine.

 

Sept. 8

At 10:12 p.m. Henry Duarte, 19, of Orono, and Katherine Franke, 18, of Orono, were issued civil summonses for being in possession of fake IDs.
