Police Beat 11/29 to 12/1

At noon, the University of Maine Police Department (UMPD) received a report of theft from an individual at the New Balance Student Recreation Center after they realized money had been stolen from their wallet. The investigation is ongoing.

At 1:25 p.m. officers received a report via Campus Eyes that described someone smoking marijuana at Gannett Hall. When officers arrived, they did not smell any odor of the substance but did speak to a person who admitted to regularly using marijuana. The individual was issued a warning to not consume it in the dorms.

At 11 p.m. UMPD arrived at Kennebec Hall for a welfare check. The student was sent to the Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center.

At 11:07 p.m. officers conducted another welfare check at Oxford Hall. After checking on the student, no further action was taken.

At 7 a.m. UMPD responded to a noise complaint at the Alfond Stadium. Someone inappropriately used the overhead speakers to shout at people on the track below. The individual fled by the time officers arrived.

At 1:30 p.m. UMPD and the University Volunteer Ambulance Corps (UVAC) arrived at the Bear’s Den for a sick person. Officers treated them on the scene, so no transportation was needed.

At 3:50 p.m. officers were asked to assist with cutting a lock off a locker at York Hall.

At 9:51 p.m. onlookers reported that a suspicious female was walking near Witter Farm. Officers could not locate her.
