4/9:
At 11 a.m., a disorderly conduct report was filed from Gannett Hall after the University of Maine Police Department (UMPD) received a call informing them that two occupants of a dorm room were loudly fighting. An officer responded and made contact with the individuals, who were found to be roommates and were separated. The dorm RA is involved and a resolution report was filed.
At 4 p.m., a property damage crash report was filed from the Collins Center for the Arts parking lot. A student shared the door of their vehicle had been struck and no note was left despite a visible dent. A responding officer determined the damage to be less than $2,000 and therefore a criminal report was not filed, but UMPD is reviewing camera footage to identify who struck the vehicle. The student was advised to contact their insurance company.
At 5 p.m., a criminal mischief report was filed from Belgrade Road after a student walking called in to report a lewd sticker on a traffic sign. An officer responded and then called Facilities to have the sticker removed.
4/10:
Around noon, a suspicious complaint was filed from the Memorial Union after a student called and reported seeing someone tinkering with the University Credit Union ATM, using small tools. An officer responded and made contact with the individual, who shared they were a contracted technician making repairs on the ATM.
4/11:
At 8 p.m., an information complaint was filed from the Office of Facilities Management Service Building. An on duty security officer called and shared that locks to the building had been changed and they did not have the correct key. UMPD assisted in securing the correct key and the officer was able to access the building.
4/13:
At 11 a.m., a drug-related information complaint was filed from Rangeley Road. A student called UMPD to report they found a small bag with white crystallized powder while walking down the street. A responding officer confiscated the bag for testing and camera footage is being reviewed.
At 8 p.m., a suspicious complaint was filed from Aroostook Hall after an RA called in to report a car alarm in the parking lot. UMPD ran the plate information and made contact with the owner, who came to the lot and disabled the alarm.
4/14:
At 10 a.m., a criminal mischief report was filed from Morse Arena after a passerby shared that derogatory graffiti had been written on a barrier near the construction site. Responding officers could not review footage since cameras were removed from the area due to construction. Facilities were called to remove the graffiti.
Around noon, a theft complaint was filed from York Hall after a student reported that their bike had been stolen from a bike rack outside the building. Responding officers were not able to review footage due to a lack of cameras in the area and determined the bike was not secured with a lock when it was taken. The student shared identifying details and UMPD is working to recover the bike.
4/15:
At 10 a.m., a vandalism report was filed from outside the Fogler Library. A student called and shared that an Israeli flag had been ripped down from the area and thrown in a nearby garbage can. A responding officer recovered the flag and obliged the student’s request to file a report documenting the incident.
