As many of you know, Wells Dining is now up and running, and I have some opinions. Firstly, I think that the facility is very conveniently located, as I live close to the building. Secondly, the service is typically pretty fast. Thirdly, I feel that the prices aren’t completely unaffordable. However, the fact that they’re only open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. definitely blows. There isn’t much variety, and unfortunately when there is a hockey game at the Alfond Arena, they often run out of food.
Having a dining hall located right next to my dorm is incredibly convenient. It’s just a short walk away, making it easy to grab a meal whenever I’m hungry without wasting time or energy. Whether it’s for a quick slice of pizza or a late-night snack, the proximity makes it effortless to fit dining into my busy college-student schedule. Plus, I can enjoy a drink with friends, or watch some karaoke, without having to leave the comfort of campus. It’s definitely one of the best perks of the newly-added Wells Dining.
Having quick service at the dining hall is a game-changer for students with busy schedules. With so much to juggle between classes, studying, and extracurricular activities, being able to grab a fast, delicious meal is a huge time saver. Whether it’s just a snack between study sessions or a full meal, the efficiency of the service helps keep my schedule moving smoothly. It allows students to refuel without wasting valuable time, making it easier to stay focused and on top of everything. Quick service truly makes campus life more manageable.
As a college student, affordable food is an absolute lifesaver. Balancing tuition, bills and other expenses can quickly add up, so being able to grab a meal that won’t break the bank is a huge plus. Affordable dining options allow me to enjoy nutritious, filling meals without constantly worrying about my budget. It’s comforting to know that I can have a satisfying meal without spending too much, leaving me more money for other essentials. For students on a tight budget, affordable food makes all the difference in making college life more manageable and stress free.
Having the eatery open only from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. can be inconvenient for many students, though. It’s frustrating when you’re looking for a meal earlier in the day, especially when you have a morning class, or a busy schedule that doesn’t align with those hours. Sometimes, I just don’t feel like walking up to Hilltop or York Dining. Plus, the Bears Den is super busy. The Kiwibots are helpful when there isn’t an hour wait. Skipping meals or relying on snacks throughout the day just isn’t ideal, and it can make staying focused during classes or study sessions much harder. A more flexible dining schedule would make life a lot easier, allowing students to grab a meal when they need it most.
Not having much food variety gets really boring after a while. Eating the same meals day after day can make mealtime repetitive and uninspiring. It’s hard to stay excited about meals when the options are limited, and it can make it feel like there’s nothing new to try. A little variety would make a huge difference, giving students the chance to explore different flavors and cuisines. Having more diverse options would not only keep things interesting, but also help ensure everyone can find something they enjoy. I enjoy the burgers of the week, Besides that, not much changes.
Lastly, when there’s a hockey game, the dining hall often runs out of food, (this past Friday night, they ran out of burgers around 9:30 p.m.). It’s incredibly inconvenient. With so many people flocking to grab a meal before or after the game, the lines and wait times get long, and the options quickly dwindle. It’s frustrating to make the effort to get there, only to find out that what you were hoping for is no longer available. This creates a real hassle, especially when you’re hungry and don’t have time to wait for restocks or find an off-campus alternative. It’s tough to balance hunger with the unpredictability of game-day crowds. Having better food availability would definitely make the experience more manageable. Knowing that hockey brings in such a huge crowd, I don’t see how they aren’t prepared.
I enjoy Wells Dining for the most part. It’s convenient, affordable and a great place to hang out with friends. I just wish it was more accessible during the day and was better prepared at times, with a bit more variety. I strongly recommend the facility, and hope that everyone who reads this gives it a try.
