Police Beat for Feb. 5-Feb. 9

University of Maine Police Department (UMPD)

Feb. 9

10:08 p.m.

UMPD officers were doing a property check on the second floor of Somerset Hall when they detected an odor of marijuana. A first-year student, was found with marijuana and no medical marijuana card. He was summoned for possession of marijuana by someone under 21.

Orono Police Department

Feb. 5

1:15 a.m.

Orono Police Department (OPD) officers were called on the night of the Super Bowl to investigate an altercation that occurred at Orono House of Pizza. A male was arrested after harassing two females and one male at the bar. He began verbally assaulting the females and then tried to start a fight with the male. He was heard calling the females expletives and telling one of them that he wasn’t afraid to “cut” her. The man was removed from the bar but was still seen in the parking lot attempting to get the male to come out and finish the fight. He was arrested for domestic violence terrorizing.

Feb. 8

11:40 p.m.

OPD officers were at the Bear Brew talking to staff when they received a complaint from a bouncer that a window had just been broken. Officers found the male suspect near the Irving in Orono and he admitted to standing near the window when it was broken. He said he had been removed from the bar and was attempting to get ahold of his friend who was still inside, knocked too hard and smashed the window. He was charged with criminal mischief.
